I had the pleasure of reviewing I’m Dougal Trump It’s Not My Fault by Jackie Marchant with my children last year. This was a book that really captured the imagination of my daughter and my boys with its childlike humour. I’m rather inclined to agree with the Lancashire Evening post who described Dougal as “a lovable roguish cross between Bart Simpson and Just William” Jackie writes in the first person making Dougal really come to life for his young readers.
When Jackie, contacted me to say the sequel had been published I jumped at the opportunity for my children to review a copy and to offer you a chance to win both the new book “I’m Dougal Trump…Where’s My Tarantula” together with the original “It’s Not My Fault” here on the blog.
Where’s My Tarantula?
Just like the original book, Where’s My Tarantula is packed with fun pages with diagrams, doodles and notes all in an appealing kiddie style text. It is a great book from around age eight plus or a little younger if being read by an adult. My nine year olds love the story line. It appeals to the Country Kid in them, as it is all about Dougal’s spider friend who goes missing with plenty of innocent naughty school boy pranks and home life tales along the way.
