Our New Tree Roots cottage has been finished ready for rent this week. It has been a long project which we have been working on since last autumn when it was just a concrete foundation. As our newest most expensive property to rent sleeping 10 people in comfort we thought it deserved a few little extras. Inside it boasts underfloor heating throughout and a truly modern design including a play room.
Step 2 Neat and Tidy Cottage
Being a blog ambassador for Activity Toys Direct is a joy with so many properties and play rooms to fill here at Coombe Mill. Last year we ran a giveaway on the amazing studio art desk. The quality shone through and the take up was huge. I rather fancied one to review for Tree Roots, however after a chat with the good folk at Activity Toys Direct we agreed on a the Neat and Tidy Cottage which was going to tie in perfectly with the launch week. It was clearly too big for the lovely new playroom but I had just the perfect spot outside the double patio doors. It looks made to measure sat between both sets of doors and brings the inside outside so effortlessly. It is close to the large outdoor table and clearly visible from the new hot tub, so ideal for parents to relax and soak or be preparing meals in the kitchen while the children play close by.
We had friends with young children round to visit and as I showed them round the new house ahead of the first real guests arriving. Their children, with no prompting, headed straight outside and into the little cottage. The bright colours are a magnet to little ones and look so striking against the big cottage white washed walls. Instantly the children slipped into their own imaginary world:
“Peek a boo, I can see inside”
“I can look outside too”
“Just a minute Mummy we need to feed our bear’s their lunch”
Can we make you lunch now Mummy?
They could have been there all afternoon lost in their own imaginary world. It was magical to watch.
This playhouse is made from a good thick plastic with a drainable floor ideal for leaving outdoors. It boasts a built in little kitchen table and seating for two and has windows, doors and open on space on all sides for children to see out and parents to see in. It isn’t cheap at £179 but then when you look at the quality difference on a cheaper one you can soon see what you are paying for. This one looks built to last. Assembly is straightforward with clear plans and only requires a screwdriver. It would make a great garden toy for any child up to around age 7 and I am thrilled to have ours in our new cottage. I wish all who stay there hours of play time fun.
