Winter Sun & Showers in Cornwall

Posted on January 16th, 2016

This was a week where we finally emerged from the weeks of rain and a flooding river to catch a glimpse of the winter sun. I’m not talking wall to wall crisp winter days, more brilliant blues one minute and hailstorms the next, never the less it is a step in the right direction and with the evenings noticeably drawing out I found myself capturing the afternoon sun on my i-phone all round the farm.  Here are just 4 of my favourites from the week.

There is something quite special about the strength of the winter sun and the light it casts over our river lying so low in the sky.

Our Log store as the late afternoon sun highlights the moss on the slate roof and rich red leaves on the shrubs.

Possibly my favourite photo of the week with the sun peeping through the trees and just highlighting Willow and Honeysuckle cottages.

Winter sunsets are so rich in colour, this was taken coming down our lane on the way home from school with the children

Just to prove it wasn’t all wall to wall sun this magnificent rainbow interrupted me in the Coombe Mill gym, I had to stop my cycle program to step outside and capture what I was seeing through the window, the sun was still on the far side of the valley yet it was raining in front of me, to the top left you can just make out a second rainbow forming.

A little sunshine is a wonderful antidote to the January blues, I hope you have seen some this week too.
