I don’t often talk about my eldest son, but I’m going to indulge here just a little. He was just 4 when we bought Coombe Mill and is now approaching 18, taking his A levels and preparing for University. He is someone who remembers very little of his childhood here on the farm, except to say he values his family lifestyle and has become very competent at all the jobs that need doing. His contribution will be greatly missed when he leaves in September and a shuffling of chores with his younger siblings will be needed. Of course we will miss more than just his work: his smiley face, happy disposition and upbeat mood makes him a pleasure to have around. His 18th birthday is coming up and he has a list of things for University he wants from a lap top to new clothes.
Discovering the perfect fashion polo shirts
All these presents soon add up, just as well it is a significant birthday. When House of Fraser offered me the chance to review some of their fashion polo shirts I jumped at the opportunity to tick something off the birthday check list. I knew the quality would be good that their designs would be up to date and appeal to Alistair. He spent some time perusing a choice of T shirts and Polo shirts and finally settled on two that would be perfect for collage, look good on the farm and last well into the new term at University.
At nearly 6ft tall and fond of his gym workouts, he was torn between ordering medium or large. Agreeing large would last longer we placed our order. We chose the Grover polo in black at £24.50 reduced from £35 and Howick Ashford rugby shirt in evergreen reduced from £40 to £20. The T shirts arrived within 48 hours packaged beautifully and Ally wasted no time trying them on leaving me no chance to show off their beautiful tissue paper wrapping! It was however a stunning spring morning and we enjoyed a stroll around the farm while he decided which he would wear on to the University open day we were attending together.
New polo shirts on test
Reflections from Alistair on his fashion polo shirts.
“The fabric is great quality and the designs classic yet contemporary making them perfect in the country or in the town. I found the sizing varied even though they were both large. The black polo has a slimmer fit and shorter body length which I prefer. The striped Rugby shirt is my favourite design but I might ask Mum to shorten it to make it a little shorter.”
House of Fraser has a sale on currently and there are some great brands and designs at bargain prices. I can recommend a visit. We will be back to shop again.
We were kindly asked to select our choice of fashion polo shirts or T shirts for the purpose of this review. All thoughts and opinions are our own.
