We are big fans of board games. They bring learning and fun together and provide a welcome break from online games and chat that preoccupies more time than I care to admit for my kids these days. Finding a game that really does encourage smart thinking, quick action, challenges spellings and vocabulary with all the fun and competitiveness you could want without breaking the bank, may sound like a tall order. Tall being the operative word in the fast paced Word Has It game from which really does have it all. If this has you curious, read on to find out more about Word Has It from University Games and how you can win one for your smart thinking kids.
Tall is best in Word Has It
The object of the game is to make words from a topic shown on the card drawn from the pack. A noisy Countdown timer gives you just seconds to build the tallest word you can on your plinth and win the round. You’ll need a reasonable vocabulary and ability to spell for this. On top you need to think and act fast to build your word and claim the letters you need. I’d recommend teams if younger children are involved or twice the timer length to finish their word.
What we liked
The timer rhythm gives a great sense of urgency and competition while the very nature of the game is perfect for practicing spelling, fast thinking and improving vocabulary. My kids found the game more of a challenge than they expected and now know that playing this will let them off household chores as I really value the educational benefits.
