If you have a young animal lover I bet they are full of questions about our four legged friends. Children are natural learners and asking questions feeds this knowledge from very early on. The lovely new book from our friends over at Quarto Kids pulls on this thirst for learning with a delightful look at what animals do all day in the wild in a relatable way with comparisons to grown up people and their different jobs. From the dessert to the arctic the animal kingdom is brought into focus in this delightful reference book. If you fancy finding out more and a chance to win a copy for your young animal lover, read on.
The Style of the Book
In the book over 100 animals are matched with 14 habitats. Each habitat is explained in words and illustrations over a full double spread. This is followed by a double reference page naming some of the animals who live there and a good quirky fact about what they do to survive there. It is a fast paced gallop through our wonderful planet earth looking at how the animals fit into nature with just enough detail to give little ones a base of knowledge.
What we liked
The clever illustrations and nonstop fascinating facts make this book both readable and perfect to reference and return to time and time again. Do you know what a Tarsier is, where is lives or that is can leap up to 40 times its body length or that there is an animal called a Civet who helps make your coffee taste delicious? Neither did I before reading this book; good to know it’s not just children who will be expanding their knowledge.
