Our reception is well stocked with maps, books, tide tables and local attraction guides to help you make the most of your days out from Coombe Mill. There is so much to do but here are just a few of our favourites:

White Sandy Beaches with Rock pools to Explore

Just a short drive from Coombe is the spectacular North Cornish coast with its towering cliffs, pure white sandy beaches with rock pools, coves, and safe swimming with lifeguards in attendance in summer. Polzeath, Daymer Bay, Trebarwith and Rock are some of our closest where we can often be found with wet suits, bodyboards, buckets and spades and a picnic lunch! The Camel estuary is a major centre for all kinds of water sport for the adventurous from waterskiing to surf lessons and sailing.

Harbour Towns

Pretty harbour villages of Padstow, Port Isaac and Tintagel on the North Coast and Fowey on the South coast make a great day out. They all have interesting shops for clothes, arts and crafts, cafes, restaurants and bakeries selling Cornish delights, ice cream shops and more. Hours can easily be lost on harbour walks admiring the boats and crabbing on the quayside. Boating trips for fishing, seal spotting, speed boats and ferries are all easy to find.

Educational places the children will love

King Arther’s Tintagel and the spectacular Pendennis Castle will capture the imagination of any young boy while the Shipwreck Centre at St Austell will feed an inquisitive mind. The Eden Project now has an interactive education unit popular with younger visitors while the magic of the Lost Gardens of Heligan can be enjoyed by all.

Kids’ favourites

On those not so good beach days, there are plenty of adventure parks for children of all ages to enjoy. Our favourites are Crealy with older children and Springfields and Dairyland for younger children and toddlers. Young train enthusiasts will find a trip to Lappa Valley just the ticket! They have petrol, diesel and steam trains as well as boating, crazy golf, playgrounds, cafe and acres of space for a great family day out.
