Free fishing is available all year round for the exclusive use of our guests but guests must hold an appropriate rod licence. We have 2 fishing lakes and private river fishing along the banks of the River Camel, perfect for a family fishing holiday accommodating a beginners first fish to skilled fishermen. There are few limitations on the type of tackle or bait you use or the time of day or night you choose to fish, just come and enjoy!
The perfect starting point and where some of the on site fishing lessons occur, the top lake is stocked with Carp, Roach and Tench. A great spot for a young fishing apprentice or beginner fisherman on their first fishing holiday.
This is an extremely pretty spring fed lake that is sensitively managed to ensure the fish are healthy. It is well stocked with carp up to 20lbs, the Carp Lake appeals to beginners to skilled fishermen with it’s tranquil setting and the river running alongside it.
If you’re looking for a new experience whilst on holiday, our train driver Guy is on hand to teach you and your family how to fish. For £10 you’ll receive an hour’s lesson as well as your very own rod to keep.
As winter arrives so do the salmon that return up the river streaming past Coombe to provide challenging wild game fishing late into December. The sea trout season typically runs from the beginning of April to the end of September.
Rods, nets and basic tackle are kept in Farmer Nick’s shed for hire and there is an extensive range of equipment available at a tackle shop nearby, or please feel free to bring your own.
