Originally a 16th-century watermill, Coombe Meadow (formerly Coombe Mill Farm) is set within an idyllic 23-acre private estate, nestled between Bodmin Moor and the North Cornwall coast. Today, it offers relaxed, self-catering holidays where families can slow down, reconnect with nature and enjoy time together in a peaceful rural setting.

Our luxury lodges are nestled in a peaceful valley at the foot of St Breward. While you can enjoy the ultimate tranquility of our private grounds, you are just a short stroll away from the heart of the village, home to local shops, essential services, and the historic Old Inn — a local landmark famous for its warm hospitality and traditional Cornish character.

Life at Coombe Meadow

Life at Coombe Meadow follows a gentle, natural rhythm. Rather than a busy schedule of organised activities, guests are invited to enjoy the simple pleasures of the countryside — open space, fresh air, wildlife and the freedom to explore at their own pace.

The Accommodation

Being parents ourselves we knew exactly what you look for when booking a child-friendly luxury lodge holiday and we aim to make going away with the kids that much easier. All of our lodges have access to, at least one full size wooden cot, bed guards, blackout blinds, and highchairs as required, as well as stair gates fitted top and bottom as standard. To top it off, Heligan, Trebah, Trevarno and Polzeath Lodges have built in playrooms perfect for those days where you don’t want to stray too far from your lodge, whilst all the other properties have their very own toy box so you won’t need to bring all your toys with you.

To make your stay even more luxurious, many of our properties boast Super King size beds.

The Grounds

Alongside the farm, our 23 acres of land is also home to plenty of open space for the kids to explore. On a walk around Coombe Mill you will discover plenty of play areas. There is a trampoline, swing, play area with a zip line, swings and a slide. There’s also an under 5s soft play barn and a games room with pool table and table tennis, and air hockey for older kids.

Kids love our wild adventure zones for imaginative play including the mud kitchen, den building zone, fairy garden and wildlife trail. In the summer it’s not unusual to find families splashing in the River Camel that runs through the grounds of Coombe Mill. Differing depths along the river means even teenagers and parents can have a swim!

The Fishing

Coombe Mill is also home to a fishing lake whilst the River Camel runs through our grounds meaning we have the perfect spot for families with fishermen as well as somewhere for less experienced fishers to try their hand. If you’ve never been fishing before and want to try on holiday you can. 

The Local Area

Coombe Mill’s location, in St Breward near Bodmin, makes an ideal base for families exploring Cornwall. Just a short drive from the farm is the spectacular North Cornish coast with its towering cliffs at Tintagel and pure white child-friendly sandy beaches such as Polzeath.  Discover the pretty harbour villages such as Port Isaac and Padstow, as well as many attractions aimed at the whole family.
